“We wanted to build the fastest road car in the world,” begins the Hennessey Performance teaser video. That means topping the 261 mph of the Bugatti Chiron as a starting point.
But it seems like Hennessey has a big, round number in mind, based on a photo posted to the company’s Instagram account showing a “Speed Limit 300” sign.
We will just have to wait and see whether the Venom F5 can achieve this lofty goal. With turbocharged Chevrolet small block V8 power cranking out about 1,500 horsepower in the Venom GT Final Edition model, the power to do it seems possible.
A bigger obstacle could be the tires, which spin with such insane force at such speeds that they are prone to flying apart. That is a very bad development when traveling at the speed of a corporate jet, so it will be interesting to see how Hennessey shoes the F5.
